Suzanne LaFrance calls on Dave Bronson to present plan to restaff APD

Suzanne LaFrance for Mayor

Anchorage, AK: Today, Dave Bronson made a last-minute shakeup in Anchorage Police Department leadership, just weeks out from Election Day.

The announcement comes as APD is experiencing a severe staffing crisis under Bronson. After a years-long effort to rebuild the police force before his tenure, the department is now down over 50 sworn officers, and has over 80 total vacancies.

“The mayor should be holding a press conference today announcing how he’s going to restaff APD and get our streets and trails feeling safer,” said Suzanne LaFrance. “This is more of the same stuff we’ve seen for the last three years – creating distractions instead of solving problems.”

LaFrance has a strong and consistent record on public safety, including her work to help rebuild the police force while on the Assembly. She is the only candidate endorsed by local police, through the Anchorage Police Department Employee Association PAC.
